After the 1990 GMC Handicap van vehicle was towed in from North Raleigh with Barns Towing service , work started to begin. Daniel is donated his time, expense to help out a dear friend in the nursing home. This job will be worked on after hours, weekends or during a lunch break. When ever van is sold only than will Daniel collect his time and efforts.
9-30-2008C*-Dan Charges Battery,Change tire & work with Hydraulic handicap lift in 90 GMC Van 10-01-2008C*Dan-R&R battery, add gasoline-start and move Van. 10-02-2008B*-Dan moves vehicle to storage(HOLD) 10-05-2008-The right front tire was replace after the spare was repaired. 10-06-2008-Dan moves the vehicle back up to the shop 11-05-2008-Dan is planning on meeting up with the previous owner to obtain another wheel chair and to have the title signed over on Friday Morning 11-07-2008-Dan & Cabel left Friday morning to Warrenton NC (90 miles one way). The title was signed. When we got back, Dan drove to the DMV for plates & applied Car Insurance 11-08-2008-Dan drove the vehicle from Auto Fashions to Carolina Auto Restorers location to wash the Van and check other mechanical check points. 11-09-2008-Dan Drove Van to pick up Debbie at the nursing home. She had not been away from there in four years. I drove her around sight seeing, invited her for some carrot cake, ice cream and play with my dog Oreo at my place. The van will take one more trip into town to get another electric wheel chair, than it will have the front wheel bearings checked & repacked, Engine & Transmission oil & filter changed, Interior work. 11-13-2008--Sublet Advertising design work at the Sign Shop for the Rear Tire Cover. 11-21-2008-Dan repairs the driver door lock & the window regulator, lubricates the track, Than later changes the engine oil & filter. 11-24-2008-The Dual Headlamp bezel came in and it was installed on the vehicle. A photo will be updated soon from Ken's Camera, as Dan hasn't had time to learn the new camera basics yet. 12-01-2008-Dan picked up from the parts store a few new wheel studs for the front & rear of van that were broken off. 12-02-2008-Dan drove the van to the other location and Ken was kind enough to lend to front tires from his spare truck until new tires can be installed on the van. Dan swapped out the two front tires onto the van. 12-03-2008B*The van was inspected in Pittsboro. New windshield blades were installed. 12-05-2008BC*-Picked up Advertisement for Tire Cover and worked in evening preparing for Parade 12-06-2008-A-Finished preparing Christmas Parade by 1:00pm 12-09-2008-Christmas Van Photos after the Pittsboro Christmas Parade. 12-24-2008-Dan drives the vehicle to Pittsboro to pick up Debbies wheel chair for repairs. First the vehicle was brought over Carolina Auto Restorers to swap out the front two tires as Ken was so kind to let me borrow his front tires off his truck so I could get the truck inspected. The vehicle is now parked to continue the repairs at time & money permits. 12-27-2008-Dan washes the van from the Christmas Parade and removes the snow residue, then picks up the trash, carboard, steel parts, old masking paper for the recycling process for CAR,INC 01-20-2009-The van was put indoors over the cold spell we had earlier in the week. Dan is checking the antifreeze so the van can be parked outside again in the weather, but also looking at why the blower motor in van isn't working. Well the fuses were ok, but the antifreeze failed the test. Tonight I drove the vehicle down the road I cleared of snow and drove to the parts store 03-25-2009B*-Unload my van Debbies bed that I inquire at the nursing home. There were lots that they were getting rid of and Debbie asked if she could have one, so a couple of weeks ago I picked up one for her. Today I unloaded the van and placed her things in storage, so when she has a place of her own she can have a bed. 04-17-2009-B*-drove to nursing home to obtain signature from a physician so I can park Van in Handi cap parking. 04-21-2009-Drive to DMV and got handicap pass 04-30-2009-C* Eddy has volunteered to help out Debbies cause, so he will be investing in two new tires for Debbie and repair the spare tire. 05-01-2009-B*-Remove both front tires on van and took them to the tire shop to have them replaced. 05-05-2009-B* Pick up new balance tires 05-09-2009-A*-Install both front tires 05-10-2009-A*-Repair battery connections 07-06-2009 -Picked up some new brake pads, debbies families deposit on parts so far-$5.00 07-10-2009-C*The Front wheels have been removed to start working on the needed repairs for the front brakes- 07-23-2009-Jarrod helped Debbie establish a new checking account at a local bank, as I was there helping her. We deposited Sharon's donation of $20.00 to go toward the price of the brake pads. 08-20-2009-(HOLD)-~~~ to Remove both front brake rotors to inspect the wheel bearings and replace the broken wheel studs- 09-09-2009C*-Remove some of Debbies things in draws from nursing home and pack into shop car to be store at shop so Debbie and nurses can have room to work around Debbie. 09-10-2009A*-Taking items out of truck and storing items 10-01-2009A*-bring debbie a new computer & printer 11-15-2009B*-bought debbie a new Keyboard 11-27-2009C*-Brought Debbies van into shop tonight because the antifreeze in her van needs replacing. 11-28-2009B* Replaced Antifreeze in van. Click out coolant reserve. Found that the vehicle doesn't have a engine thermostat unless its stuck in the open position. Check brake, power steering and transmission fliuds, add where it was necessary. Move vehicle out of shop. 12-01-2009C*-Drive to Lowes Hardware to pay a bill, than fill up with some gas. When I got back to shop I loaded up both electric wheel chairs in van to save the need space in my shop. 12-03-2009A*-Bought a new 125V toggle switch to try to repair her wheel chair 12-14-2009B* Collected information for the Wheel chair repair person as I do not have the time to repair these machines myself. I have emailed the information to Debbie 12-24-2009B*-Inspecting vehicle 12-25-2009AB*-Picked up Debbie from Nursing home and than we drove to her families home in Raleigh where they had a wonderful dinner ready for both of us. We really had a great time sharing time together. Thank you for the Christmas left overs and the nice gifts I received:). 12-29-2009C*-Loaded back up the two broken wheel chairs so my only Bay in shop at the moment can be clear. 02-24-2010-Take Debbie to the eye doctor 02-26-2010 -Take Debbie to get new eye glasses and to be fitted correctly 03-01-2010C*-pick up computer for repair 03-02-2010AB*-Removed only engine oil & filter, B*-Troubleshoot heater problem, found the heater blower is defective. Drove to Chapel Hill and bought a replacement. Removed rear broken radio speaker. 03-03-2010XX 03-05-2010-BC*swap out turbine and install blower motor, add the oil filter & oil, drive vehicle out of shop. Found broken oxygen sensor. I will Replace front brake pads and inspect front wheel bearings at a later date...Drive to pittsboro and purchase oxygen sensor, air filter and spark plugs . 6thC* Hooking up Debbies home computer and checking it out make sure its working correctly. 03-08-2010B*-Return Computer to Debbie 03-11-2010-BC* Raise vehicle, Removed and replaced 8 spark plugs, Remove old piece & Retap hole for oxygen sensor in exhaust pipe, install new oxygen sensor, replace broken vacuum lines and air filter today
